Fancy on a Catch of Henry Aldrich

Fancy on a Catch of Henry Aldrich - (2011)

for organ

The theme is drawn from The Catch Club or Merry Companions being a Choice Collection of the most Diverting Catches for three and Four voices Compos'd by the late Mr. Henry Purcell, Dr. Blow & c. The text for this round  [ 1 ] reads: "Although, Jolly Tom, great fame thou hast won, / thy bloody red nose shall look paler e're long! / For the rate that we drink at each night still procures / such noses as would quite discountenance yours! / And when the large bumper floats 'round in the close, / we'll despise thee and swear 'tis mine Arse of a Nose!."

The theme is stated at the pick up to measure 14, with some ornamentation after several phrases as an opening gambit. The theme is stated in all voices, including the pedal.
