Prelude and Fugue in B minor - piano

Prelude and Fugue in B minor - (2011)

for piano

The 6/4 prelude is long-lined, with a decorative alto voice in the chorale texture answering the decorations in the top line. The mood of the slow arch is broken by arpeggios spanning the keyboard as later by an embellishment of a decoration into contrasting statement. The prelude ends with a reprise of the opening mood.

The fugue changes the tempo in relation and ratio to the prelude while keeping the meter. Successive entries of the subject and interjections of material from the prelude continue the longer fugue to its final truncated statement and closing in octaves without third or fifth.
