Prelude and Fugue in F sharp minor - organ

Prelude and Fugue in F sharp minor - (2010)

for organ

A three-voice introduction introduces the tonality while avoiding the dominant at its cadences. Thereafter a long-lined melody in the top voice is accompanied by moving interior voices and a gently pulsing bass line. The lowered supertonic is a harmonic feature of the prelude, as well as of the final extended cadence.

The fugue subject includes the raised fourth, for the augmented second of the scale, and the answer appears in the dominant by way of the melodic minor variant of this fugue generally in its harmonic minor.
