Prelude and Fugue in G major - (2008)

for organ

This little prelude and fugue is akin to the little Prelude and Fugue in D major, composed for a single stop and a small or portative organ (single manual). The prelude's motive is an arpeggio of thirds which sings out under and then over a set of parallel triads. This is the essential schemata for the work.

The fugue subject is a differing arch of thirds, related to the prelude's opening motive. The subject and answer appear in the normal tonic-dominant relationship, and the texture is essentially a two-voiced counterpoint.
