Ti pentirai di tutto fuorchè d’essere venuto a me, liberamente, fieramente.
Ti amo. Non ho nessun pensiero che non sia tuo;
non ho nel sangue nessun desiderio che non sia per te.
Lo sai. Non vedo nella mia vita altro compagno, non vedo altra gioia.

Rimani. Riposati.

Non temere di nulla.
Dormi stanotte sul mio cuore…

Do not go.
I will watch over you. I will protect you.

You'll regret no thing for coming to me, freely, proudly.
I love you. I do not have any thought that is not yours;
I have no worldly desire that is not for you.
You know this. I see in my life no other companion, I see no other joy.

Remain. Rest.
Fear for nothing.
Sleep tonight on my heart…

 

 

The original text is longer, taken from "Solus ad solam" - "Lettura del testo -- 8 settembre 1908. Natività di Nostra Donna." The whole excerpt in prose is: 

 

"E ti dicevo: «Rimani, rimani! Riposati accanto a me. Non te n'andare. Io ti veglierò. Io ti proteggerò. Ti pentirai di tutto fuorché d'esser venuta a me, liberamente, fieramente. Ti amo. Non ho nessun pensiero che non sia tuo; non ho nel sangue nessun desiderio che non sia per te. Lo sai. Non vedo nella mia vita altra compagna. Non vedo altra gioia. Te l'ho già detto più d'una volta, in questi giorni di tempesta: l'aiuto non ti verrà se non dal tuo amico. Rimani. Riposati. Non temere di nulla. Dormi stanotte sul mio cuore»."
