Tidbits for Piccolo and Flutes

Tidbits for Piccolo and Flutes- (2023)

A somewhat unique chamber music combo was chosen for the fun of it. After an introduction, easy polytonality speaks of the theme moving through parallel major chords, with a single movement spun out from this. A middle section features a short canon for voices before the coda.

An andante of longer lined themes is taken up, moving through a harmonically distant tonal region. again with counterpoint in canon at times.

The final presto ma not troppo is a 6/8 lilt, with cascades of scales offsetting triadic gestures. This movement too moves quickly through various tonal domains for the fun of it before ending solidly in octaves Cs.
